Diabetes Club program at Navarro expanded
October 28th, 2010
MIAMI – Navarro Discount Pharmacy has kicked off its free Diabetes Club program, which this year features expanded benefits and information for customers.
Now in its second year, the Navarro Diabetes Club has added information about juvenile diabetes and how families and children can live a healthy lifestyle, the 28-store drug chain said this week.
"This year, Navarro's Diabetes Club will focus primarily on education specifically related to nutrition, exercise and prevention for adults and children with diabetes," Albert Garcia, executive vice president of pharmacy at Miami-based Navarro, said in a statement. "The goal of the Diabetes Club is to educate parents and children about good eating habits, what foods to eat and what food to avoid as well as regular exercise."
Benefits of the Navarro Diabetes Club include free prescription delivery to the home or office; a free 60-day supply of the retailer's Premier Value insulin syringes; discounts of up to 15% on all diabetes prescriptions and up to 25% on diabetes supplies; and 10% savings on Premier Value products.
Club members also have access to free health screenings and glucose testing in partnership with Abbott Diagnostics and Clinical Divisions as well as educational programs held at Navarro drug stores on topics such as heart disease and diabetes, controlling diabetes through diet and exercise, the effects of smoking on diabetics, and living the best quality of life with diabetes.
Other benefits include training on using new and updated glucose monitors, access to Navarro's online resource center, invitations to monthly social and educational events, and a quarterly newsletter with additional diabetes information.
To join the Diabetes Club, customers simply need to pick up a form at a Navarro pharmacy counter, fill it out and return it to the pharmacist, after which a membership card will be issued.
Navarro added that it also has partnered with Abbott Diagnostics and Clinical Divisions as the title sponsor of the American Diabetes Association's annual "Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes" initiative in Miami on Nov. 6.
