Drugstore.com calls Cyber Monday its 'biggest day ever'
December 1st, 2010
BELLEVUE, Wash. – Drugstore.com reported that Cyber Monday set a new one-day record for the company in terms of the number of customer orders.
The online health, beauty and vision retailer said late Tuesday that in addition to record order levels on drugstore.com and Beauty.com, customers made more mobile purchases than ever before on Monday, Nov. 29, in kicking off the holiday sales season, with mobile orders up nearly 400% year over year.
"We're focused on offering customers the best selection of products, convenience and great value year-round, and the holidays are no exception," drugstore.com chairman and chief executive officer Dawn Lepore said in a statement. "This time of year we expand our health and beauty assortment to include a wide selection of fun to find gifts, toys and games, gadgets and stocking stuffers that customers want. In addition to this, our Cyber Deals seemed to strike a chord and customers responded in record numbers."
Top selling products on Cyber Monday, the company said, included the following: SpyNet toys and Marshmallow Shooters in toys; Clarisonic Mia, Laura Geller Beauty Sets (exclusive) and philosophy hope in a jar in beauty; Sonicare and Oral-B power toothbrushes and Braun electric shavers in health and personal care; a Philips iPhone/iPod docking station clock radio and the Magic Bullet Pro Quality blender mixer system in gadgets; and Ferraro Rocher Chocolates, M&M's and Jelly Belly candy dispensers among stocking stuffer items.
Drugstore.com noted that it offers online holiday gift guides — including "Gifts for Her," "Gifts for Him" and "Gifts Under $25" — plus special gift with purchase offers on its Beauty.com sister site, along with hundreds of thousands of customer reviews and product videos, to help customers choose the best gifts.
