Good Neighbor Pharmacy gets ThoughtSpot 2014 under way
July 31st, 2014
LAS VEGAS – Thousands of community pharmacists and other industry stakeholders have converged on Las Vegas for ThoughtSpot 2014, the annual trade show of AmerisourceBergen Corp. and its Good Neighbor Pharmacy network.
AmerisourceBergen said Thursday that the event, held at the MGM Grand and running to Aug. 2, aims to provide independent pharmacists with practices and resources to help transform their businesses to improve profitability and bolster their position as a key source of patient care in their communities.
Pharmacy attendees at ThoughtSpot 2014 can partake in a variety of seminars and continuing education courses, including such topics as adherence management, pharmacy solutions to CMS Star Ratings, pharmacy transitions and investment strategies.
In the keynote presentation, Robert Irvine, host of the Food Network's "Restaurant: Impossible," will focus on revitalizing locations, controlling inventory and improving business offerings and customer service — critical practices that also apply to independent retail pharmacies.
Also at the show, Good Neighbor Pharmacy plans to provide details on TransPHARMation, an ongoing project to ensure that independent pharmacies maintain their role as vital care providers in their communities. ThoughtSpot attendees will get a first look at the program.
The Good Neighbor Pharmacy of the Year Award winner will be announced at the event as well. The award recognizes pharmacies who show what it means to be a Good Neighbor Pharmacy in their commitment to enhancing patient care and lives in local communities. This year's finalists include Davies Drugs in Canton, Ohio; Deines Pharmacy in Beatrice, Neb.; and Harry Race Pharmacy in Sitka, Alaska.
ThoughtSpot 2014 also will include special presentations and access to AmerisourceBergen thought leaders such as Steve Collis, chief executive officer; Dave Neu, president of AmerisourceBergen Drug Co.; A.J. Caffentzis, president of community and specialty pharmacy; and Scott Robinson, vice president of Good Neighbor Pharmacy.
"ThoughtSpot 2014 is Good Neighbor Pharmacy's annual conference to deliver community pharmacists resources and tools to help their businesses thrive," Caffentzis said in a statement. "We have a long-standing commitment to independent community pharmacies, and at ThoughtSpot we will provide them with programs, services and best practices to adapt with the changing health care landscape and provide superior service to their customers and communities."
