London Drugs plans new e-commerce site

February 23rd, 2012

SEATTLE – This fall, London Drugs is slated to go live with a redesigned online store.

Seattle-based digital marketing provider LiveAreaLabs said Thursday that the Canadian drug chain has enlisted it to develop and implement an end-to-end e-commerce site and branding strategy for a relaunch of the web store.

The full-service engagement includes customer research, digital brand strategy, custom e-commerce website design, content strategy and development, search engine optimization (SEO), technical consulting and development, analytics and design optimization, and ongoing technical support.

The revamped store will be built on the Demandware e-commerce platform and serve both online and mobile customers, LiveAreaLabs said. The digital specialist also will develop three shopping applications for cameras, computers and cosmetics that will help shoppers find the right product for their needs.

London Drugs currently maintains its e-commerce site, but the retailer wants to build a more robust online presence that better supports its brand and the experience found in its drug stores, according to LiveAreaLabs.

"At London Drugs, we are committed to providing customers an outstanding experience every time they interact with us. To carry that commitment through online, we chose LiveAreaLabs to redesign and implement our e-commerce website on Demandware. LiveAreaLabs offers a unique mix of digital retail strategy, shopper-centered experience design, and deep Demandware technical expertise. Just what we need to deliver superior shopping experiences everyday," stated Clint Mahlman, senior vice president at London Drugs, which has 74 stores in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

The first phase of work is due to launch in October, in time for the holiday shopping season.

"We are very excited to be working with London Drugs," Mark Moskal, CXO and co-founder of LiveAreaLabs, said in a statement. "The company is dedicated to making the lives of their customers easier through a great selections of products, knowledgeable staff and a commitment to customer service. As their e-commerce and digital marketing partner, we look forward to helping them better serve the needs of their customers online."
