Rite Aid turns spotlight on pharmacy team 'favorites'
February 12th, 2014
CAMP HILL, Pa. – Rite Aid Corp. has announced the winners of its 2013 Favorite Pharmacy Team Member contest: a pharmacy cashier from Cliffside Park, N.J., and a loyal customer of the drug chain's store in Mansfield, Mass.
Rite Aid said Wednesday that both winners were chosen randomly from more than 14,000 entries in the 10th annual contest, which was launched last October for American Pharmacists Month.
The Favorite Pharmacy Team Member contest honors Rite Aid pharmacy staff for their dedication to customer care and service. To enter, customers submitted mail-in nominations, in-store forms and online ballots during American Pharmacists Month. The names of one customer and one pharmacy team member were drawn at random to receive $2,500 in Rite Aid gift cards.
The winning Pharmacy Team Member is Jacqueline Vargas Pagan, a pharmacy cashier for more than 10 years at the Rite Aid store in Cliffside Park. Pagan was nominated for being considerate, patient and thorough in recognizing customer needs and explaining insurance concerns, the drug chain said.
"I was elated to see Jacqueline receive this award," Jayshree Patel, Rite Aid pharmacy district manager, said in a statement. "Jacqueline is very personable with our customers, which in turn makes them feel welcome each time they visit our store. She makes a point to get to know each shopper by name and what they need to provide optimal customer care."
The winning customer is James Walsh, a retired accountant who has been a customer of the Mansfield Rite Aid "forever." Rite Aid said that because of the excellent customer service he receives, Walsh enjoys frequently visiting the Mansfield store's pharmacists and manager, Bill Pereira.
"I was very excited to find out I had won this contest," Walsh commented. "Over the years, I have found Rite Aid's customer service to be more respectful and considerate than other drug stores."
Every nominated "favorite" pharmacy team member gets an official pin and letter of commendation from John Standley, Rite Aid's chairman and chief executive officer, and Robert Thompson, executive vice president of pharmacy.
"Each year, the number of 'favorite' pharmacy associates nominated continues to grow, and that's a true testament to the top-notch care our teams are providing to their customers," stated Dan Miller, senior vice president of pharmacy operations for Rite Aid. "I'd like to congratulate and thank all of our pharmacy associates for their continued service to our customers and for helping us deliver on our mission of improving the health and wellness of our communities by providing our customers with the best products, services and advice."
