Clear Eyes to air new TV spots with Ben Stein

IRVINGTON, N.Y. – Media personality, speaker and actor Ben Stein returns to television this week as the spokesman for Clear Eyes Complete, the latest product in Prestige Brands Holdings Inc.'s Clear Eyes line of over-the-counter eye care products.
Prestige Brands said Wednesday that Stein will appear in a series of TV commercials for the brand starting with a 15-second spot dubbed "Carnival," in which he cleverly conveys the benefits of the newest Clear Eyes product through a carnival game. The spot can be seen on popular TV shows or by visiting the new Clear Eyes web site, www.cleareyes.com.
According to the company, Clear Eyes Complete simplifies relief for those with multiple symptoms. Four active ingredients treat seven types of eye discomfort, including dry, red, burning, itchy, irritated, gritty and watery eyes.
"We are thrilled that Ben is back after a hiatus of more than a year," commented Tim Connors, chief marketing officer for Prestige Brands. "Ben tells us that wherever he goes, people know him as 'The Clear Eyes Guy.' We couldn't be happier that he is so closely linked with our brand."
Prestige's current roster of OTC health care brands also includes Murine eye care products as well as Compound W wart treatments, Chloraseptic sore throat relief and allergy treatment products, New-Skin liquid bandage, Little Remedies pediatric products, and The Doctor's NightGuard dental protector.
Earlier this week, Prestige Brands unveiled a deal to acquire Blacksmith Brands Holdings, whose OTC brands include Efferdent denture cleaner, Effergrip denture adhesive cream, PediaCare cough/cold/allergy/sinus and fever remedy for infants and children, Luden's throat drops and NasalCrom allergy prevention nasal spray.
