GoGargle! named Best New Product at ECRM event
March 19th, 2014
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – GoGargle!, an effervescent salt gargle to soothe and moisturize dry and irritated throats, was chosen by retailers as Best New Product at the 2014 ECRM Cough/Cold, Analgesics and Allergy Convention.
Scottsdale, Ariz.-based O'Connor Companies LLC, maker of GoGargle!, said Wednesday that the product beat out offerings from such leading over-the-counter brands as Johnson & Johnson, Ricola, Bayer, GlaxoSmithKline and Reckitt Benckiser.
"This is a tremendous honor," company founder and president Tim O'Connor stated. "ECRM is comprised of all the heavy hitters, including CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid and many others. For them to single us out as the best new product of the year kind of validates what we've always believed, that this is a really great product that will help a lot of people."
GoGargle! was invented by O'Connor's wife, January. "My mother and grandmother always used to make me gargle with salt water when I had an irritated, prickly throat," January O'Connor explained. "But it always tasted so bad. I wanted to make a salt water gargle that actually tastes good."
O'Connor started by adding a cool, natural mint flavor to the salt and then including soothing ingredients such as honey, aloe, chamomile, zinc, vitamin C and vitamin E.
Users just dissolve one effervescent tablet in four to six ounces of warm water and then gargle in small sips for 20 to 30 seconds, until the liquid is gone. The salt cleanses, while the other ingredients soothe, providing a clean, refreshing sensation.
"When people try it, they're always surprised at how refreshing it feels," Tim O'Connor commented. "And considering that 15 million people visit the doctor for throat irritation every year, we think it's got huge potential."
GoGargle! is currently sold at retailers including Bashas’ Grocery Stores (Arizona), Hartig Drug (Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin) and Dorothy Lane Markets (Ohio), as well as online at GoGargle.com.
The company added that it expects rapid growth in retail distribution of GoGargle!. "We’ve garnered a lot of attention really quickly," Tim O’Connor stated. "Many retailers told us they think GoGargle! will be the next big thing."
