SKIO pill sorting system targeted at arthritis sufferers

February 20th, 2014

CHICAGO – Pill Pickup LLC has begun marketing its SKIO Pill Management System at a growing segment of the population that not only has difficulty with managing their medication, but also in physically handling it: arthritis sufferers.

SKIO consists of a pill sorting tray and a wand tipped with a hygienic, replaceable adhesive strip for picking up pills.

According to SKIO executive Jim Roberts, research shows that by 2020 more than 50 million seniors will be dealing with a deterioration of fine hand/eye motor skills, including the onset of various forms of arthritis and macular degeneration.

The SKIO system provides users and caregivers a cost-effective solution that makes pill sorting quick and hygienic, avoiding the time and costs associated with dropped or lost pills, which also are potentially harmful to children and pets.

SKIO consists of an ergonomic pill wand and a pill sorting tray. On one end of the wand is a replaceable adhesive strip — manufactured to strict hygienic medical standards — for pill picking, while the other end sports a classic pharmacy pill counting paddle.

The company noted that SKIO is particularly useful for sorting tablets that have been cut in half for dosage or cost reasons, as well as for handling with prescription medications that come in tiny pills. Early feedback from users indicates that SKIO speeds their daily pill counting and provides the independence of being able to manage their medication regimens without any assistance.

"Our brisk early sales results have confirmed that SKIO has filled a void in the marketplace," added Roberts, "and consumers see SKIO as a unique tool to avoid the costs of wasted medications in a climate of continuing health care cost increases."

Each SKIO kit includes one wand, one tray and 10 adhesive tab refills.

SKIO is available through leading pharmacy chains, independent pharmacies and specialty retailers, as well as directly online at myskio.com. PBIC Partners is the exclusive global agent for all SKIO-branded products.
