Troy Healthcare purchases Stopain
January 5th, 2011
HAZELTON, Pa. – Troy Healthcare has acquired the Stopain topical analgesic brand from DRJ Group Inc. and plans to ship a new pain relief gel to retailers early this year.
Financial terms of the agreement weren't disclosed. Troy Healthcare is a subsidiary of Troy Manufacturing Inc., which has made Stopain products since 2002. Troy said the establishment of Troy Healthcare "created the unique opportunity for the company to have unprecedented control over its brand and products from conception to completion."
"With eight years of manufacturing knowledge and experience with Stopain products, Troy Healthcare will utilize its proven expertise in research and development to take the Stopain product line to the next level," stated Bob Miller, speaking on behalf of Troy Healthcare. "The release of Stopain gel substantiates the company's pledge to develop scientifically advanced products for healthy living."
Plans call for the new Stopain Pain Relieving Gel to hit store shelves in early 2011. Troy said the nongreasy, nonstaining and pleasantly scented gel contains 38% more of the active ingredient menthol than any other product in the cooling gel category. According to the company, menthol is recognized by the Food and Drug Administration as an analgesic that provides temporary relief from minor pains and stiffness of arthritis, muscle aches, strains and back pain.
Stopain Pain Relieving Gel, which comes in a 2.5-ounce tube with a flip-top cap for easy opening, carries a suggested retail price of $5.99.
The new gel joins the brand's other topical pain relief products, including Stopain Spray and Stopain Roll-On. Stopain products are sold at such chain drug retailers as CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Walmart and Meijer.
