FORT WORTH, Texas — This week, Galderma Laboratories expanded its therapeutic skin care roster with the launch of Excipial, a line of dermatologist-developed products formulated for “challenged skin.”

Galderma said Thursday that Excipial includes five over-the-counter products: Excipial Daily Protection Hand Cream, Excipial Rapid Repair Hand Cream, Excipial 10% Urea Hydrating Healing Lotion, Excipial 20% Urea Intensive Healing Cream and Excipial for Bruising.

Galderma Excipial hand creamAll Excipial products are currently available at CVS/pharmacy stores and online at CVS.com. Plans call for Excipial to roll out to more national retailers and online outlets starting in January.

“Galderma is rooted in skin science, and our Excipial formulations were medically designed with a keen understanding of how the skin works and how to best counteract challenging skin conditions,” stated Miles Harrison, vice president and general manager of the self-medication business unit at Galderma. “With the launch of this advanced therapeutic line, our goal is to deliver on precise, scientifically driven solutions to help individuals with every skin type achieve targeted results.”

In clinical studies, the Excipial Protect and Repair line — which includes Excipial Daily Protection Hand Cream and Excipial Rapid Repair Hand Cream — was shown to significantly reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL), according to Galderma. The company said a  key ingredient in the Daily Protection Hand Cream is aluminum chlorohydrate, which provides glove-like protection around the skin to help contain the natural oils or lipids, preventing evaporation or diffusion. The Rapid Repair Hand Cream includes tocopherol, providing relief for hard-working hands as well as ingredients to soothe dry, itchy skin.

Meanwhile, Excipial 10% Urea Hydrating Healing Lotion is described as an “all-over healing lotion” that continuously hydrates to heal dry skin and soothe itchy, rough skin. The product helps restore the skin’s natural hydration system by replenishing reduced levels of natural urea and hydrating throughout the day to relieve dry, damaged skin, Galderma said. Excipial 20% Urea Intensive Healing Cream is a fast-acting cream that hydrates to heal dry skin and sloughs away extremely dry or damaged skin on hands, elbows, knees and feet.

An oral supplement, Excipial for Bruising is specially formulated to minimize the appearance of bruising and support healthy-looking skin. The company said the supplement supports blood vessel health with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and is ideally used for bruising due to senile purpura.

“Galderma is committed to providing innovative medical solutions to people with skin health needs at all stages of life,” commented Todd Zavodnick, president and general manager of Galderma North America. “The new Excipial line exemplifies this unique commitment.”
