Kinney parent names Hart CEO
June 2nd, 2014
GOUVERNEUR, N.Y. – Bridget-ann Hart has been promoted to president and chief executive officer of KPH Healthcare Services Inc., which operates Kinney Drugs.
Hart, who had been president of Kinney Health Care Services, will oversee the daily operations of KPH Healthcare Services. She takes the reins from chairman and CEO Craig Painter, who will now serve as executive chairman. Painter will continue to be involved in the development of new business model strategies.
“Bridget is a dynamic leader who has the vision, the values and the passion to help lead our company into the future,” says Painter. “With Bridget’s proven track record of success, we are confident that she will drive future growth and long-term value for our company.”
Hart has been with the company, which changed its name from Kinney Drugs Inc. this spring, for her entire career. She has held senior leadership positions in pharmacy and professional services, store operations, human resources and corporate development, including as president and chief operating officer of Kinney Drugs.
Kinney operates 100 drug stores in northern and central New York and Vermont. The adoption of the new corporate name didn’t change the chain’s store signs and logo.
The chain added five outlets in the past year and has been redesigning its established units, with an increased focus on the core businesses of health care, personal care, beauty and cosmetics. The new focus includes expanded assortments for convenience categories, improved adjacencies and greater accessibility to pharmacy.
Kinney this year opened its first retail clinic, in an outlet in Syracuse, N.Y. Named the Healthy You Wellness Center, it provides care for a variety of respiratory conditions, including emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma. It also treats patients suffering from bronchitis, the common cold, flu, allergies and sinus infections.
The clinic is a partnership among Kinney, Pulmonary Health Physicians PC and Franciscan Cos., an arm of Syracuse’s St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center. It is staffed by doctors from Pulmonary Health Physicians.
Besides Kinney, KPH runs Health Direct Institutional Pharmacy Services, which serves long-term-care facilities as well as assisted living facilities, group homes, county and state correctional facilities, and addiction and mental health residences. ProAct Inc., another KPH division, is a pharmacy benefits manager that provides mail-order prescriptions for many large employer health insurance plans in the region. Another unit, Noble Health Services, is a specialty pharmacy.
