Summertime promo under way at SDM

TORONTO – Shoppers Drug Mart has launched “This Summer — Only at Shoppers,” a program through which it has introduced hundreds of “exclusive must-have” products as well as an interactive online portal.

The summer promotional campaign began last month with the online portal as well as an in-store magazine featuring seasonal trends as well as tips and product selections by popular Canadian bloggers in addition to experts in such fields as health, fitness, beauty and parenting.

“We’re all looking forward to the warmer weather and spending more time outside — especially after the winter we just had,’’ reflects Chong Bang, senior vice president of merchandising. “We want to help Canadians get the most out of summer by offering great new products, seasonal tips and a chance to win valuable prizes.’’

Features of the online portal include articles, videos and blog posts and other content, with topics that range from child-friendly travel tips to physical exercises that can be carried out in the workplace.

A “fun in the sun’’ contest offers ideas on enjoyable activities as well as the chance to win one of 250 Shoppersphoto.ca photobooks or one of five vacations and one of 10 $2,000 SDM shopping sprees. Canadians will have the chance to win by receiving a pin card with in-store purchases using their Shoppers Optimum Card. They can also gain opportunities ­online.

The summer campaign will be supported in-store with point-of-purchase materials, consumer e-mails and in-store radio as well as the use of the social media platform. In addition, television, radio and digital advertising will support the in-store and online contest. The contest runs in-store and online through July 11.
