ARLINGTON, Va. — NBC News and MSNBC senior political analyst Mark Halperin is slated to speak at the 2017 NACDS Total Store Expo.

The National Association of Chain Drug Stores said Halperin, who appears regularly on MSNBC’s political program “Morning Joe,” is scheduled to speak at the NACDS Political Involvement Reception on Saturday, Aug. 19. The Total Store Expo runs Aug. 19 to 22 in San Diego.

“We look forward to gaining unique insights from Mark Halperin, who has distinguished himself as a political expert with a firm grasp on the unpredictable and fractious political environment that has characterized national politics for the past several years,” NACDS president and chief executive officer Steve Anderson said in a statement. “Mark will bring tremendous value to what has become the signature NACDS-PAC event during the NACDS Total Store Expo.”

Known as the “insider’s insider,” Halperin is the creator, executive producer and co-host of Showtime’s political documentary series that followed the 2016 presidential campaigns, “The Circus.” The Washington Examiner recently called the program “the greatest political show on TV.”

Prior to joining Bloomberg in 2014, Halperin served as editor-at-large and senior political analyst for Time, covering political elections and government. Halperin turned his behind-the-scenes campaign expertise and analysis into a New York Times best seller on the 2008 presidential election, Game Change: Obama and the Clintons, McCain and Palin, and the Race of a Lifetime. The New York Times said the book leaves readers with “a vivid, visceral sense of the campaign and a keen understanding of the paradoxes and contingencies of history.”
