MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — McKesson Pharmacy Systems (MPS) has integrated medication synchronization and mobile delivery functionality into its pharmacy management systems, including EnterpriseRx, PharmacyRx and Pharmaserv.

MPS said Monday that pharmacies implementing the enhancements in their McKesson pharmacy management system can improve patient medication adherence and measurement, as well as hone pharmacy workflow and provide convenient mobile delivery and tracking of patient prescriptions.

“The med sync and mobile delivery enhancements underscore our commitment to act upon our customers’ feedback and prioritize product development requests,” stated Bernie Reese, senior vice president and general manager of McKesson Pharmacy Systems. “These updates also reflect our sharp focus on developing agile, cross-platform pharmacy technology that can benefit all MPS customers at the same time.”

Though medication synchronization functionality has already been available to EnterpriseRx users, it is now integrated with PharmacyRx and Pharmaserv as well. Med sync — besides providing more convenient prescription pickup for patients — helps pharmacists coordinate multiple medicines to improve patient medication adherence and raise efficiency. Med sync capability also can help pharmacies achieve payer performance benchmarks to drive patient adherence.

“I am so impressed with the functionality of med sync in Pharmaserv,” commented Adrienne Cervone, owner of Beaver Health Mart Pharmacy, Beaver, Pa. “From the ease of enrolling a patient, to the alert letting us know that a patient is synced with the creation of a new Rx, this update is so crucial to where pharmacy is heading. Being integrated right into the pharmacy system makes med sync an all-around win.”

MPS has also upgraded the mobile delivery functionality for all its pharmacy management systems. Through a strategic partnership with leading mobile technology provider RxTrax, McKesson now offers a service that enables customers to provide medication delivery and tracking for their patients.

Via mobile delivery, pharmacies can improve efficiency, boost profits and ensure that homebound patients have access to needed medications, MPS said. Combined with med sync, the service provides another way that pharmacies can manage patient medication adherence.

Mobile delivery integrates with EnterpriseRx and Pharmaserv Point of Sale (POS) and is available as a stand-alone service for PharmacyRx.
