Terms of the agreement weren’t disclosed. Merix said that under the deal it will exclusively market Sarantis’ European products in the United States and Canada.

Sarantis markets and distributes a broad range of brands in Europe, covering such categories as fragrances, cosmetics, skin care, hair care, personal care, health care, supplements, sun care and household products. The company has operating subsidiaries in nine European countries — Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Czech Republic, Hungary, FYROM (Macedonia), Bosnia and Portugal — and a distribution network that exports to more than 35 countries.

“We are very pleased to have this business alliance with such a fine company as Sarantis,” stated Merix founder and chief executive officer Meryl Squires. “We are excited to introduce to the U.S. and Canada Sarantis’ exceptional European brands with a focus at this time on beauty, hair and fragrance. This strategic move will expand both Merix and Sarantis in the consumer marketplace.”

Merix uses phyto-pharmaceutical technology to create antivirals and a range of other products in global consumer health, over-the-counter and pharmaceutical markets. In the United States, the company markets the Releev 1-Day Cold Sore Symptom Treatment and has expanded into the dental professional and veterinary markets.
