VALLEY FORGE, Pa. — AmerisourceBergen Corp. has promoted David Neu to president of AmerisourceBergen Drug Corp. (ABDC), the company’s biggest operating unit.

The health care and pharmaceutical distributor said late Monday that Neu, 53, formerly senior vice president of operations for ABDC, takes the post previously held by Steven Collis, currently president and chief operating officer.

Last month, AmerisourceBergen named Collis to succeed David Yost as chief executive officer upon Yost’s retirement on July 1. Collis was promoted to president and COO last November, which left the ABDC president’s position open.

In his new role, Neu, a 29-year company veteran, will continue to report to Collis.

"Throughout his tenure at AmerisourceBergen, Dave has held several leadership roles within ABDC, and he has been instrumental in both guiding its recent success and positioning it for future growth," Collis said in a statement. "Dave’s commitment to customers, suppliers and associates and his experience leading both sales and operational efforts will enable him to continue to drive value for all of our stakeholders and to take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead."
