Retail News Breaks Archives Meyer to retire from WalgreensApril 20th, 2009 DEERFIELD, Ill. – Laurie Meyer, Walgreen Co.’s divisional vice president of corporate communications, is retiring. Meyer was hired by Walgreens in 1981, with her first contribution as managing editor of the January/February 1982 issue of Walgreen World.
For nearly three decades since, Meyer has clearly and effectively been communicating the company’s message internally and to the world.
Meyer has written speeches for many Walgreens executives, started one of the first executive blogs at any company and worked on 27 annual reports as well as 162 issues of Walgreen World.
“Laurie raised the level of all Walgreens communications,” comments retired chief executive officer Dan Jorndt. “She has had a tremendous positive influence on the entire company.”
