Barrett to become Cardinal Health chairman and CEO

August 5th, 2009

DUBLIN, Ohio – Cardinal Health has named George Barrett as chairman and chief executive officer.

The pharmaceutical and health care products distributor said Wednesday that Barrett will take the helm of Cardinal and its board on August 31, when the company expects to complete its planned spinoff of CareFusion Corp.

Barrett, 54, has been vice chairman and CEO of Cardinal's Healthcare Supply Chain Services unit since joining the company in January 2008. He will replace R. Kerry Clark, who previously announced he would retire from the company upon completion of the CareFusion spinoff.

In addition, Cardinal said Glenn Britt, chairman and CEO of Time Warner Cable, was named as a board director, effective Oct. 1. Also, John Finn was appointed presiding director of the board and named chairman of the audit committee, effective with the CareFusion spinoff.
