August 24th, 2009

WOONSOCKET, R.I. – CVS Caremark Corp. is looking to hire 100 full-time pharmacy technicians for its new Pharmacy Customer Care Center being built in Cumberland, R.I.

The company on Tuesday plans to hold a recruitment event for the facility. The August 25 event is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Community College of Rhode Island, Knight Campus, located at 400 East Street in Warwick.

Plans call for the new Pharmacy Customer Care Center, expected to open in December, to initially employ 125 people, according to CVS. The company said the facility will be staffed by pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and customer service associates, who will field phone calls from pharmacy customers, prescribers and other third-party agencies.

CVS has teamed with the Community College of Rhode Island and the Providence Skills Center to train applicants as pharmacy technicians. The Rhode Island Economic Development Corp., the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training, the Workforce Partnership of Greater R.I. and Workforce Solutions of Providence/Cranston also are offering recruitment and training support, according to the drug store chain.
