Retail News Breaks Archives Walgreen Co. confirmed that it has hired supermarket and convenience store veteran Jim Jensen to lead a new effort to market fresh food and ready-to-eat items. In welcome news for pharmacy chains, the National Council of State Legislatures (NCSL) has released a briefing paper that highlights the value of pharmacist-led medication therapy management (MTM) services, according to the National Association of Chain Drug Stores. Walgreen Co. plans to acquire three Farmacias El Amal stores in Puerto Rico as well as prescription files from 11 other El Amal pharmacies. CVS Caremark Corp. has opened its first drug stores in the St. Louis market and plans another there later this year.
