February 23rd, 2010

DEERFIELD, Ill. – Miguel Almeida, vice president of online merchandising and operations at Walgreen Co., is slated to deliver a keynote address this week at the eTail West 2010 conference.

Almeida, who oversees online sales, merchandising, customer service and fulfillment for the drug store chain's web site, walgreens.com, will present at the Internet retailing event in Palm Desert, Calif., Wednesday on the topic, "Beyond E-commerce: Linking Solutions for Customers via the Web."

He will discuss Walgreens' multichannel strategy linking content, commerce and community, as well as the online channel's emerging role in health care today. The retailer launched an enhanced web site in November that included an array of new shopping and pharmacy tools as well as mobile and iPhone functionality.

Almeida was promoted to his current post at Walgreens in late December. He joined the company last March as a director of online operations after previously holding similar roles at Apple and Dell. He also has worked with Boston Consulting Group.
