CHICAGO – CVS Caremark Corp. president and chief operating officer Larry Merlo is slated to open the Network of Executive Women's Leadership Summit 2010 this fall in Charlotte, N.C.

The Network of Executive Women (NEW), the consumer products and retail sector's largest diversity organization, said Thursday that Merlo will welcome more than 700 network members at the event's opening reception on Sept. 27 at the Westin Charlotte. The summit runs to Sept. 29.

Also sharing their personal experiences and business insights at the NEW summit will be futurist Edie Weiner and retired Lt. Col. Consuelo Kickbusch. The event is designed to "provide tools to help CPG/retail executives transform their careers, lives and companies to better profit from the consumer industrys 'new normal,' " NEW said in a statement.

The summit will also include three SuperSessions, a "generations at work" roundtable, networking opportunities and optional events, including "Retail Safari" store tours.

The SuperSessions will feature Bill Fournet, corporate strategist and president and chief executive of the Persimmon Group; Kevin Coupe, journalist, author and industry blogger at MorningNewsBeat.com; and DeLores Pressley, a consultant and coach specializing in building relationships.

The Network of Executive Women, Consumer Products and Retail Industry, has more than 3,000 members from over 400 companies and 66 corporate sponsors. The network's mission is to attract, retain and advance women in the retail and consumer products industry through education, leadership and business development.
