Target rolls out photo kiosks with social network connectivity

October 19th, 2010

MINNEAPOLIS – Target Corp. has deployed Kodak photo kiosks with social networking technology in most of its stores nationwide.

The discount store chain said Tuesday that it's the first mass retailer to offer social network connectivity at Kodak Picture Kiosks. With the technology, Target customers can use the Kodak photo kiosks to access and print online photo albums directly from their Facebook pages or Kodak Gallery accounts.

According to Target , customers can use the kiosks to create an array of photo products, ranging from standard photo prints to personalized photo keepsakes such as Kodak photo books, collages, calendars, holiday and greeting cards, and Kodak picture movie DVDs.

"Kodak has always been a leader in innovative photography solutions, and Target is proud to be the first mass retailer to offer this creative solution nationwide," Mark Schindele, senior vice president of merchandising at Target, said in a statement. "We know our guests are increasingly sharing their photos online and Kodak Picture Kiosks with Social Network Connectivity allow them access to their favorite photos along with the convenience of printing the images during their regular Target shopping trip."

Target noted that with more than 500 million users and 3 billion photos uploaded to Facebook each month, the Kodak Picture Kiosks enabled with Social Network Connectivity give customers a convenient way to print online photos in stores.

"Today’s Web-savvy consumers want to access their favorite online photos anytime, anywhere, and adding Social Network Connectivity to our Kodak Picture Kiosks gives them an exciting, creative avenue for sharing those photos in fantastic print creations," commented Nicoletta Zongrone, general manager of retail systems solutions and vice president at Eastman Kodak Co. "We're proud to partner with a retailer like Target that truly understands the needs of their guests in today's digital world."

Target operates 1,752 discount stores in 49 states.
