Walgreens rolls out exclusive BORBA skin care line
January 25th, 2011
DEERFIELD, Ill. – Walgreen Co. has launched the new Inside Out Beauty Solutions skin care collection by BORBA, which includes "cosmeceuticals," at select drug stores nationwide.
Walgreens said Tuesday that the product line, available exclusively at its stores, features supplements and ingestible products aimed at enhancing the skin's youthful appearance, including topical cleansers and moisturizers, vitamin-enhanced water and dietary supplements like fruit or vitamin chews.
The Inside Out Beauty Solutions collection was developed by celebrity esthetician Scott Vincent-Borba, a pioneer of the "superfruit skin care movement," according to Walgreens. Superfruits are a class of foods known for their very high nutrient or antioxidant content and include açai berry, blueberry, pomegranate, cranberry and grapeseed. The retailer said Borba's skin care and ingestible formulations include a number of superfruits to help defend cells against free radical damage that can lead to premature aging, illness or disease.
The collection available at Walgreens encompasses 27 products. Nine clinically tested skin care products include Age Defying 4-in-1 Cleansing Treatment, Age Defying Wrinkle Smoothing Serum and PMS Skin Rescue 7-Day Treatment System, ranging from $9.99 to $24.99. A five-piece Age Defying Starter Kit available for $24.99 is designed to give customers an easy, affordable way to try BORBA skin care, Walgreens said.
On the cosmeceuticals side are nine dietary supplements, including Firm & Fit Calcium Chews, Healthy Glow Immunity Drink Mix and Mighty Energy Gummi Mice, running from $14.99 to $19.99. There also are four vitamin-enhanced Skin Balance Water formulas and four corresponding Skin Balance Crystalline drink mixes, which range in price from $1.99 to $6.99.
"Our customers see us as a valued destination for health and wellness needs, from the trusted standby beauty staples to the latest innovations," Shannon Petree, divisional vice president and general merchandise manager for beauty at Walgreens, said in a statement. "BORBA has created a buzz in the beauty world and among celebrities. Now we're excited to bring these items to the masses so everyday women can achieve total beauty in a healthy, unique and affordable way."
Plans call for Borba to make personal appearances at Walgreens stores, in which he will conduct one-on-one skin evaluations and offer product samples, the retailer said. In-store appearances are slated to begin in New York City on Jan. 30 and run throughout the year in various markets nationwide.
"I'm thrilled to be bringing my latest line of skin care, beauty beverages and beautyceuticals to Walgreens," Borba commented. "We share the same passion for delivering the most innovative solutions to everyday women. Walgreens stores across the country will now allow the BORBA brand to reach even more people than ever before."
