'Beauty Within' site goes live on Walgreens.com

February 3rd, 2011

DEERFIELD, Ill. – Walgreen Co. has launched an interactive web site for beauty care that aims to help visitors find real solutions to makeup, hair and fashion issues.

Dubbed "Beauty Within," the new site — located at Walgreens.com/BeautyWithin — provides step-by-step advice from beauty professionals on how consumers can achieve their desired skin, hair and makeup look, the drug store chain said Thursday.

Walgreens' Beauty Within site features real-world stories of women's beauty challenges.

Visitors to Beauty Within will find new video episodes highlighting everyday women and their personal beauty challenges, according to Walgreens. In addition, the site offers deals and product information about featured beauty brands and a beauty blog with tips and trends on topics such as proper makeup hygiene and caring for tools.

Walgreens said that with the debut of Beauty Within, the drug chain "dives into the digital beauty space."

"Beauty is one of the top categories searched and reviewed on Walgreens.com," Shannon Petree, divisional vice president and general merchandise manager for beauty at Walgreens, said in a statement. "This new site plays up on the fun factor and excitement surrounding beauty and allows us another way to connect with our customer to help her quickly find real and sensible solutions."

The Beauty Within site will address topics ranging from an avid runner's last-minute makeover before a philanthropic fundraiser to moisturizers to help a woman turning 50, as well as earth-friendly products for "eco-conscious beauties," Walgreens said.

Along with site host Jennifer Dorogi, beauty advisers will help transform the women using a wide array of products found at Walgreens, according to the chain drug retailer. Dorogi is a beauty expert who has worked as a contributing writer and correspondent for EXTRA, Good Day LA and TV Guide Channel. Celebrity hair stylist and professional makeup artists may also be on hand to offer advice on products and usage.
