Fairview Pharmacy readies new mobile app
October 22nd, 2013
MINNEAPOLIS – Fairview Pharmacy Services plans to roll out a new mobile application and web portal that will provide enhanced prescription services for its retail customers.
The pharmacy provider, which has 32 retail pharmacies in Minneapolis-St. Paul and the surrounding area, said Tuesday that the app will enable customers to scan and refill prescriptions and get pickup and dosage reminders via their smartphones.
Users of the Fairview Pharmacy mobile app also will be able to access the store locator tool and specials. A text-messaging option for non-smartphone users will be available as well to enable those customers to receive many of the same benefits.
Plans call for the mobile app, which will operate on the secure network of San Francisco-based mscripts, to be available later this year for all customers of Fairview Pharmacies, part of Fairview Health Services. The app will be a free download through the Apple App Store and the Android Market.
"Fairview Pharmacy prides itself on our neighborhood focus and medical expertise. We are committed to delivering the finest, most innovative health solutions to our customers," Marlaine Villas, chief information officer of Fairview Pharmacy Services, said in a statement. "Our mobile pharmacy solution furthers this mission while affording our customers the ease and convenience of using their mobile phones to manage their prescriptions needs and access other services across our pharmacy, whether they be in the neighborhood or across the country."
Mscripts' hosted solution is designed to foster pharmacy-patient interaction and, in turn, medication adherence and customer satisfaction. Integrated with McKesson's EnterpriseRx pharmacy management system, the mscripts mobile platform will enable Fairview Pharmacy to offer its patients a variety of mobile communication pathways, the companies noted.
"Fairview Pharmacy is strengthening its ties to the community by expanding the mobile adherence services it provides to its patients," stated mscripts chief executive officer Mark Cullen. "The mobile phone has become a trusted, integral part of daily lives, and Fairview Pharmacy is making it easier for customers to refill prescriptions and manage their health information wherever they may be."
