Express Scripts names former Medco exec as president

January 29th, 2014

ST. LOUIS – Tim Wentworth has been promoted to president of Express Scripts Holding Co., the nation's largest pharmacy benefit manager (PBM).

Express Scripts said Tuesday that Wentworth will manage all aspects of the company's core business and report directly to chairman and chief executive officer George Paz.

Most recently, Wentworth served as senior vice president and as president of sales and account management, with responsibility for the company's core sales and account management teams.

He joined Express Scripts with the company's April 2012 merger with Medco, at that time the nation's second-largest PBM.

"I'm honored to take on a broader leadership role at a pivotal juncture for Express Scripts," Wentworth said in statement. "Now that our integration is largely complete, we are extremely well-positioned to control client costs, improve patient care and drive better health outcomes."

At Medco, Wentworth led the employer and key accounts organizations for nearly 14 years. He also served as president and CEO of Accredo, the company's specialty pharmacy.

"Tim's deep understanding of our business, our clients and the complexities of the health care environment will serve him well in this expanded role," Paz stated. "His focus and leadership will be critical as we take advantage of near and long-term growth opportunities. I look forward to teaming with him to further deliver on our mission to make the use of prescription drugs safer and more affordable."
