Fruth Pharmacy names Pharmacists of the Year

February 13th, 2014

POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. – Fruth Pharmacy has announced Jeff Haffner and John Mourat as its Pharmacists of the Year for 2013.

The regional drug chain said Haffner and Mourat, who both serve as pharmacists at the Fruth Pharmacy in Mineral Wells, W.Va., were two of 12 nominees for this year's award.

Fruth Pharmacy also noted that this year marked the first time that there was a tie in votes for Pharmacist of the Year, a situation made more intriguing by both pharmacists working at the same location.

Mourat has served Fruth Pharmacy for over 24 years, and Haffner has worked at the drug chain for more than 18 years.

"It's a great honor to share this award with Jeff. We have a good team," Mourat commented in his acceptance speech at the awards presentation.

Fruth Pharmacy gives employee awards in four categories each year: Pharmacist of the Year, Technician of the Year, Manager of the Year and Associate of the Year. Employees are nominated by their peers and customers.

"Jeff and John do a great job at answering any questions that I have and help give me what I need. ... They are a great team," one customer nomination for Haffner and Mourat read.

"We have three children with significant special needs, and we drive 20 minutes out of our way to get our prescriptions at their pharmacy. The pharmacists are always willing to answer questions," another customer nomination said. "They talk with our children's doctors in Columbus and Pittsburgh and compound medications to specifically meet their unique needs. They try to work with our insurance to get uncommon medication that our children need covered. If they don't have a prescription in stock, they will call other pharmacies to try and locate it. Most importantly, they treat our children with the care and respect they deserve. They go more than the extra mile for us. Jeff and John both deserve this award."

Overall, Fruth Pharmacy operates 27 drug stores in West Virginia and Ohio.

"We celebrate the loyalty of employees who have reached a landmark year in their career," Lynne Fruth, chairman and president of Fruth Pharmacy, commented about the chain's annual service awards. "We also recognize those who made a significant contribution to the success of the company and those whose kindness and compassion have made difficult days a little easier for our customers."
