Pharmasave to roll out interactive pharmacy tool

LANGLEY, British Columbia – This spring, Canadian chain Pharmasave Drugs plans to launch a new online initiative called Pharmasave eCare.

The interactive tool will enable Pharmasave to better connect with patients as well as provide them with online access to their personal medication information, according to Carmen Churcott, chief executive officer of the member-owned cooperative, which has over 500 drug stores in nine provinces.

"We have a strong focus on enhancing our capabilities in the area of online customer interaction and services," Churcott said.

Through eCare, patients can order prescription refills online, set up refill and appointment e-mail reminders, and receive information and offers from Pharmasave.

"With a comprehensive library of health information and personalized recommendations, Pharmasave eCare engages patients through convenient tools for self-management to help them keep their health on track," Churcott explained.

For pharmacists, the integrated Pharmasave eCare platform simplifies and automates the identification of patients for professional pharmacy services through provincially optimized algorithms. Other time-saving efficiencies include automated form completion and billing and electronic storage.

"Pharmasave eCare is the only integrated platform for independent pharmacy that enables stores to optimize funded pharmacy services, giving our members a competitive advantage in the marketplace and strengthening customer loyalty," Churcott noted.

Overall, Pharmasave has been seeing a strong customer response to its digital initiatives, she added.

"Pharmasave website traffic is robust and continues to grow significantly each year," she said. "Our mobile app has received strong consumer acceptance, allowing customers to locate stores, browse flyers and magazines, research medications and conditions, refill prescriptions, and visit Pharmasave.com."
