Free gas card promotion returns to CVS
May 20th, 2014
WOONSOCKET, R.I. – CVS/pharmacy has brought back its Free Gas Card promotion, aimed at helping customers save on gas while shopping for daily essentials at its stores.
The drug chain said Tuesday that from June 1 to July 19, members of its ExtraCare customer loyalty program can earn one $10 gift card each week by spending $30 on specially marked items in the retailer's weekly ad. As a bonus, ExtraCare cardholders can also receive the free gas card during the week of May 18.
ExtraCare members can earn one $10 gift card to Shell, Exxon/Mobile or BP Amoco by spending $30 from a selection of hundreds of specially marked summer picnic, summer health and personal care items. The qualifying products began being listed in the weekly CVS/pharmacy circular starting May 18, and customers also can find them online via myWeekly Ad, a personalized version of the weekly circular, or through in-store signage in the seasonal aisle at select locations.
All qualifying products will be tagged with a "Free Gas Card" icon to make them easily identifiable, CVS said.
Once ExtraCare customers reach $30 on participating products, a special coupon will print on their receipt that can be redeemed immediately in-store for the gas card. If customers prefer to wait to redeem their coupon, they have up to 30 days to do so. There is a limit of one redemption per week for each ExtraCare cardholder.
"This promotion is back by popular demand, offering ExtraCare members savings at the pump just by shopping at CVS/pharmacy," Judy Sansone, senior vice president of merchandising at CVS/pharmacy, said in a statement. "We know it's a busy time of year, and this is the latest way we are delivering personalized value to our loyal shoppers."
