HomeTown Pharmacy enlists front-end solution

July 11th, 2014

AUSTIN, Texas – HomeTown Pharmacy Inc. has adopted Epicor Eagle pharmacy retail software to help improve management of its front-end business.

The Newaygo, Mich.-based community pharmacy chain, with 35 drug stores in Michigan and one in Indiana, selected Epicor Eagle to provide central business management, customer loyalty and tracking efficiencies, and integration with its current prescription dispensing system, according to Epicor Software Corp.

"We required a solution that would help us manage our front end business," Anna Rider, vice president of human resources, marketing and retail sales at HomeTown Pharmacy, said in a statement. "We saw firsthand, through the significant population of retail pharmacy users, how Epicor works with retailers to deliver more accurate business results through inventory tracking and reporting, customer loyalty, and automation — exactly what we were looking for to assist us in continuing to expand our business."

Epicor Eagle is designed to help pharmacies streamline and improve all aspects of their retail operations by optimizing front-end inventory management, automating purchasing, enabling a profitable and targeted loyalty program, and improving financial control via integrated accounting and analytics. It also allows pharmacies to enhance the customer experience at the point of sale (POS), such as through faster checkout, as well as to extend their business using mobile tools and online solutions.

"We are excited to rollout the new solution in our pharmacies," Rider added. "As a business that sees more than 200 transactions per pharmacy location per day, the ability to see real-time data will be very advantageous for our business, allowing us to better serve our customers and provide the products they truly need."

Epicor noted that Eagle pharmacy POS connects seamlessly with most popular prescription management systems (PMS), enabling pharmacies to ring up both prescription and retail transactions at any checkout location while maintaining record keeping in both the PMS and Epicor pharmacy retail software system.

"With a strong presence in the pharmacy retail market, HomeTown Pharmacy is prepared to take their business to the next level," stated Keith Lam, senior product manager for retail distribution solutions at Epicor. "We are pleased to provide the essential technology tools required to support their strategic business initiatives."
