Jean Coutu Group names new director

LONGUEUIL, Quebec – Andrew Molson has been elected to the board of directors at the Jean Coutu Group.

The Canadian drug chain said Molson's election came at the company's annual shareholders meeting on Tuesday.

Molson is chairman of Res Publica Consulting Group Inc., a holding and management company of leading professional services firms offering strategic public relations counsel to a wide range of businesses, namely National Public Relations Inc., Canada's largest public relations firm, and Cohn & Wolfe Canada, another industry leader.

"We are very proud to welcome Molson on our board of directors," Jean Coutu, chairman of the Jean Coutu Group, said in a statement. "His knowledge in business development, law and corporate governance will constitute strong assets for the development of our activities."

During the meeting, shareholders also re-elected the following directors: Lise Bastarache, François Coutu, Jean Coutu, Marie-Josée Coutu, Michel Coutu, Sylvie Coutu, L. Denis Desautels, Marcel Dutil, Nicolle Forget, Robert Lacroix, Yvon Martineau, Cora Mussely Tsouflidou and Annie Thabet.

Overall, Jean Coutu Group operates a network of 414 drug stores located in Quebec, New Brunswick and Ontario under the banners PJC Jean Coutu, PJC Clinique, PJC Santé and PJC Santé Beauté. The company also owns Pro Doc Ltd., a Quebec-based manufacturer of generic drugs.
