New, improved Perform Pain Reliever also makes debut

AKRON, Ohio — Performance Health LLC has expanded its roster of topical analgesic, rehabilitation and wellness products with Perform Atomic Heat, a new topical formula for warming the body before physical activity and relieving muscle, joint and arthritis pain.

Also on Friday, the company — known for its Biofreeze, TheraPearl, TheraBand, Cramer, Bon Vital’ and Perform brands — has unveiled a new and improved version of its Perform Pain Reliever cooling topical formula.

Atomic Heat is designed to ease muscle pain, stiffness, aches and soreness, whenever they occur. Available now in a 3-ounce roll-on at CVS/pharmacy stores, the product leverages the power of two active ingredients: capsaicin, a colorless, odorless compound that occurs naturally in chili peppers, and methyl salicylate.  It also contains several key botanicals, such as ilex extract and arnica.

Atomic Heat can be applied pre- or post-activity to warm muscles and help loosen common problem areas, such as knees, hands, wrists, legs, the lower back and the neck. For those who prefer a warm therapy over a cold therapy, Atomic Heat provides a solution, according to Marshall Dahneke, chief executive officer of Performance Health.

“Pain is a necessary evil, but in many ways it’s a good thing because it’s your body’s way to get your attention. With the right tools though, it doesn’t have to start or persist,” Dahneke stated.  “With this new product, there is a warm alternative to alleviate the aches and pains that come with an active lifestyle.”

Meanwhile, the new formulation of Perform Pain Reliever brings immediate relief for pain related to activity, injury or training.

Its new paraben-free formula delivers the therapeutic benefits of cryotherapy, or the application of cold to decrease and relieve pain. With menthol as its active ingredient, Perform provides the benefit of cold therapy conveniently without the hassle, discomfort or potential side effects of ice or pills, Performance Health noted.  Free of parabens and NSAIDs, Perform contains herbal ingredients such as aloe vera, arnica extract and many soothing oils, including lime, pine and peppermint oil.

Perform Pain Reliever is available in a 4-ounce gel, 3-ounce roll-on, and 4-ounce 360-degree spray application. Atomic Heat also comes in a 4-ounce cream application as well as the 3-ounce roll-on. Both products carry a suggested retail price of $11.99.
