PISCATAWAY, N.J. — PuraCap Pharmaceutical has introduced a quad-pack of its EpiCeram topical emollient for eczema.

EpiCeram airless pump_PuraCapPuraCap said Tuesday that the EpiCeram Controlled Release Skin Barrier Emulsion Quad Pack contains 400 grams of eczema relief, making it more convenient for patients who must treat large areas of skin or who need frequent application.

Use of the EpiCeram quad-pack can translate into fewer trips to the pharmacy and a better value for patients with chronic atopic dermatitis (AD), the company noted.

The four 100-gram airless pumps provide easily portable, evenly dispensed comfort for itchy skin, according to PuraCap.

Approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of AD and dry skin conditions, EpiCeram contains all of the essentials for total skin barrier repair to help relieve itching, dryness and redness, PuraCap said. Those include three essential lipids (ceramides, free fatty acids, and cholesterol) in a physiologically balanced ratio, which emulates the lipid concentration found in the skin.

EpiCeram is formulated to help keep the skin at a healthy pH of 5, and the emollient works to repair the skin’s barrier to help keep soothing moisture in and potential irritants out. The company said the product’s unique controlled-release technology also delivers 24-hour barrier repair benefits with only twice-daily application.

In addition to the quad-pack, EpiCeram comes in a 90-gram tube and 225-gram airless pump.
