With the move, Landau — who retains his duties as president and CEO of Purdue’s Canadian operations — takes the chief executive reins from Mark Timney, who the company said is leaving to pursue other career opportunities.

Landau joined Purdue Pharma in 1999 and spent 14 years in leadership roles in the United States — including as chief medical officer and vice president of R&D innovation, clinical and medical affairs — before becoming president and CEO of Purdue Pharma (Canada) in 2013.

Timney has served as Purdue Pharma president and CEO since 2014, when he joined the company to succeed John Stewart, who retired.

Prior to joining Purdue, Timney held leadership roles as Merck for 15 years, most recently as president of Merck U.S., where he managed sales and marketing, managed markets and payers.
