June 24th, 2010
WAYNE, Pa. – VitaminSpice, a supplier of vitamin-infused spices and food products, has inked a national distribution deal with Walgreen Co.
The "foodceutical" company said Thursday that about 700 Walgreens stores in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana are slated to get VitaminSpice products over the next couple of days. The delivery represents the first phase of a large-scale rollout of the product line at Walgreens drug stores chainwide.
"In addition to Walgreens, we already have interest from several significant food and ingredient manufacturers. The main effort now and going forward for VitaminSpice is to properly manage the massive rollout of the product to the market here in the USA and then worldwide," Edward Bukstel, chief executive officer of VitaminSpice, said in a statement.
VitaminSpice aims to boost the nutritional value of everyday foods by creating everyday herbs and spices mixed with much needed vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. The products are designed to provide a convenient and affordable way of increasing the health and wellness of children, families and busy adults, according to the company.
Current VitaminSpice offerings include crushed red pepper, ground black pepper, Italian seasoning, ground cinnamon and granulated garlic. All of the products are kosher with all-natural spices; free of dairy and nuts; 100% vegetarian; free of additives, preservatives and coloring; calorie-free; free of sugar and artificial sweeteners; and gluten-free, the company said.
