Hyland's adds new children's remedies
August 24th, 2010
LOS ANGELES – Hyland's Inc. has expanded its line of homeopathic remedies for children with the addition of Hyland's Nighttime Cold 'n Cough 4 Kids and Hyland's Complete Allergy 4 Kids.
The maker of natural medicines said Tuesday that Nighttime Cold 'n Cough 4 Kids, an extension of the company's Cold 'n Cough 4 Kids remedy, is designed to alleviate symptoms of cough and chest congestion while enabling children to sleep comfortably at night, when the symptoms of cold and cough can be worse. The product also is specially formulated to relieve symptoms and help a child sleep without morning grogginess.
Meanwhile, Complete Allergy 4 Kids is an all-in-one, nondrowsy formula intended to treat the most common symptoms of indoor and outdoor allergies, as well as the more severe symptoms, according to Hyland's. The new liquid form is sugar-free and treats even more of the common symptoms — such as itchy, watery eyes and runny noses — along with some of the less common but more severe allergy symptoms such as repeated sneezing, ear fullness and burning eyes.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, school-age children get six to 10 colds a year, and nearly 22 million school days are lost yearly because of the common cold and flu, Hyland's reported. In addition, the company said, the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology estimated that up to 40% of U.S. children suffer from hay fever.
"Hyland's has spent over a century developing safe and effective medicines that keep children healthier naturally," J.P. Borneman, chairman and chief executive officer of Hyland's, said in a statement. "The ingredients are all-natural and homeopathic, so they have low likelihoods of adverse side effects or interactions with other medications."
Plans call for Nighttime Cold 'n Cough 4 Kids and Complete Allergy 4 Kids to be available this fall in select drug store retailers and natural health food stores, as well as at several online retailers, for around $7.99, Hyland's said.
