Blistex steps up defense with Five Star Lip Protection
November 4th, 2010
OAK BROOK, Ill. – Blistex Inc. aims to provide a comprehensive safeguard for lips with its new Blistex Five Star Lip Protection lip balm.
The lip care company said Thursday that Blistex Five Star Lip Protection defends against the five harshest conditions on the lips — dry air, cold, wind, heat and sun — through specialized ingredients that blanket lips in total protection while keeping them hydrated, smooth and healthy.
Throughout the course of a day, lips can be exposed to a variety of conditions ranging from dry indoor air and cold temperatures to sun and wind outside, leaving lips vulnerable to chapping, soreness and sunburn. As an all-weather, all-season lip balm, Five Star Lip Protection keeps lips covered regardless of the condition, moving beyond standard to amplified protection, according to Blistex.
Blistex said Five Star Lip Protection's advanced formula includes natural essential oils and extracts and a proven active skin protectant to provide end-to-end daily defense as well as comfort for dry, chapped lips.
Glycerin retains moisture in dry air by pulling in up to 20% of its weight in water from the surrounding environment, and candelilla forms a barrier against moisture-robbing wind. Meanwhile, wheat germ oil rehydrates heat-stressed lips, and calendula oil soothes and helps heal cold-chapped lips that result from colds and the winter months. Also, four sunscreens provide a broad-spectrum SPF 30 UVA/UVB for year-round sun protection recommended by the American Academy of Dermatology, the company said.
Blistex Five Star Lip Protection carries a suggested retail price of $1.59 to $2.49 and is available now at drug stores, supermarkets and mass merchandisers nationwide.
