CVS veteran joins Market Performance Group

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Former CVS category management executive Steve Ortleb has joined Market Performance Group (MPG).

The consumer sales and marketing strategy firm said Ortleb will serve as a director on the MPG Sales & Retail Services team and as a retail adviser for the MPG Strategy Consulting group.

Ortleb brings to MPG nearly 15 years of experience in category management and merchandising analysis at CVS. During his time with CVS/pharmacy, he held roles in the health care and beauty merchandising divisions as well as the merchandising analysis department.

His experience also includes category manager positions for a broad range of product segments, including cough/cold, allergy, skin and sun care, and first aid. An early pioneer in category management, Ortleb developed and implemented the category review process at CVS and was project owner for SKU optimization, clustering and the World Wide Retail Exchange, according to MPG.

"Steve's extensive experience across a wide variety of categories and with formulating best-in-class retail practices enable him to develop value-added insights and enhanced customer relationships for MPG clients," MPG stated. "Steve is a seasoned industry professional with an in-depth understanding of the retail environment, consumer marketing, and category management. This experience was garnered through various category management and merchandising analysis positions with CVS/pharmacy and AC Nielsen.

"Steve leverages this unique combination of skills and experiences to aid MPG clients in developing and implementing successful retailer partnerships," MPG added.
