CINCINNATI – Leveraging social media, Procter & Gamble Co.'s Vicks DayQuil and NyQuil cold, cough and flu relief brands have launched a new Facebook contest dubbed the "Search for the Most Dedicated NFL Fan."
P&G said Friday that the contest that will reward the National Football League's "most dedicated football fan" with an all-expenses-paid trip and two tickets to Super Bowl XLV in Dallas. To get the word out about the contest, Vicks has teamed with New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.
In its search for the most dedicated fan, Vicks said it's seeking football fans who don't "miss a moment of the NFL season, despite long distances, no tickets, rain, sleet or snow, cold, cough or flu. A fan that cheers for their team, no matter what."
"Vicks is looking forward to working with the NFL and recognizing fans who are as dedicated to the game of football as we are to providing cold and flu symptom relief products that help keep players and fans in the game," commented Andy Cipra, brand manager for Vicks. "Vicks DayQuil and Vicks NyQuil help to relieve cold and flu symptoms, so even if someone isn't feeling well, they can still live their life."
On Dec. 16, 32 fan finalists — one from each NFL team — were selected, each of whom receive a $100 gift certificate for NFLshop.com and Vicks cold/cough products. Fans can now go to Facebook.com/NyQuil to vote for the finalist they feel is the most dedicated fan and should win the trip to this season's Super Bowl. The grand-prize winner will be announced on Jan. 13.
"I've learned that in the NFL there no sick days for players or true football fans," Brees said in a statement. "Since fans are such an important part of the game, I'm excited to help Vicks reward those who don't miss a moment of the season with the Search for the Most Dedicated NFL Fan contest."
