Novo Nordisk creates online destination for diabetes patients
January 14th, 2011
PRINCETON, N.J. – Novo Nordisk has gone live with Cornerstones4Care, a highly customizable online support program for people with diabetes.
The diabetes care company said Thursday that Cornerstones4Care is designed to be a one-stop source for learning about diabetes and Novo Nordisk treatment options and delivery device systems. People can also get recipes, look up food nutritional values, connect with other diabetes patients and receive daily action plans tailored to their lifestyle and information needs.
Also on the site, patients can see if they qualify for a money-saving offer on Novo Nordisk insulin products.
According to Novo Nordisk, the program focuses on four "cornerstones" of diabetes control: checking blood sugar, eating healthy, engaging in physical activity and taking diabetes medicines. The regimen creates a single online destination for diabetes and diabetes treatment information, interactive and downloadable tools, and strategies for dealing with special situations, such as travel, support for checking blood sugar and innovative resources to make it easy and fun to eat healthy foods and be active, the company said.
"We wanted to provide diabetes patients with a wide range of information and support in these four key areas of diabetes management to help them achieve their personal goals," Camille Lee, vice president of diabetes marketing at Novo Nordisk, said in a statement. "Whether you are newly diagnosed or have been living with diabetes for a long time, everyone needs ongoing support to stay engaged and on track with their diabetes care, and Cornerstones4Care was developed to do that."
For example, Novo Nordisk explained, different tips on healthy eating are offered to someone who indicates they like to cook at home versus eat out in restaurants. Also, such features as the Menu Planner enable site members to create their own menu of diabetes-friendly dishes and then generate a grocery list based on those options so that smarter food choices can be made.
Novo Nordisk said Cornerstones4Care will replace its Changing Life With Diabetes site, which will be phased out over the next few months.
