Hi-Tech to roll out generic ophthalmic solution

February 10th, 2011

AMITYVILLE, N.Y. – Hi-Tech Pharmacal Co. plans to release generic levofloxacin ophthalmic solution 0.5% next month.

The pharmaceuticals maker said Thursday that its Abbreviated New Drug Application, (ANDA) for the product, a generic version of Vistakon's Quixin ophthalmic solution, has received approval from the Food and Drug Administration.

Plans call for Hi-Tech to ship the product, indicated for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis, by the end of March.

Hi-Tech reported that Quixin ophthalmic solution generated sales of $2 million for the 12 months ended December 2010, according to IMS sales data.
