BloodSTOP Hemostatic Gauze hits shelves at CVS

February 24th, 2011

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – LifeScience PLUS Inc. has introduced its proprietary 100% natural fiber cotton cellulose gauze in a new hemostatic product, BloodSTOP Hemostatic Gauze, at CVS/pharmacy stores.

The company said Thursday that BloodSTOP is an effective and safe way to quickly stop bleeding from minor shaving cuts, scrapes and nosebleeds to deeper lacerations, as well as for people with challenging bleeding issues. According to LifeScience, testing has shown that BloodSTOP halts bleeding in less than one minute.

Water-soluble and nonirritating, BloodSTOP looks and feels like ordinary cotton gauze when dry but transforms into a gel once it comes in contact with blood, LifeScience explained. The gauze adheres to the skin's surface and creates pressure to seal and protect the wound while stopping the bleeding.

In addition, LifeScience noted, BloodSTOP is easily removed with water or saline, whereas traditional bandages can be painful or difficult to remove.

The company said BloodSTOP is available nationwide in the first aid section of CVS drug stores in a package of five individually wrapped sterile gauzes.

"We are very excited to be able to offer this product through CVS," commented Wayne Korteweg, chief operating officer of LifeScience PLUS. "BloodSTOP is so much more effective and versatile than ordinary bandages. It's an essential for any medicine cabinet, first aid kit or car for home or travel emergencies."
