CLEVELAND – American Greetings has promoted Bill DeWitt to senior vice president of the company's North American Sales Group.

The greeting card maker said Tuesday that DeWitt will lead a newly constituted sales division encompassing the United States, Canada and Mexico. The new group will align with American Greetings' commitment to product leadership and its retail partners, the company added

A 30-year veteran of the greeting card arena, DeWitt had served as national sales officer since September 2008 and held a number of leadership positions within the group.

American Greetings noted that DeWitt's experience and knowledge of the company's entire sales base makes him uniquely qualified to lead the North American territory.

"Throughout his career, Bill has demonstrated an ability to successfully lead major initiatives that have resulted in the growth of our retail account base. He has earned a reputation as an experienced leader within our organization," stated John Beeder, senior vice president, executive sales and marketing officer at American Greetings. "His expertise, insight and commitment to partnering with retailers to achieve their business goals are known throughout our industry, and we are proud of his accomplishments."
