April 13th, 2011
BELLEVUE, Wash. – Pharmaceutical distributor H.D. Smith is slated to deploy pharmacy automation technology from Talyst Inc. for its acute and extended care customers.
Bellevue, Wash.-based Talyst said Wednesday that its solution will help H. D. Smith in its effort to anticipate customers' changing health care needs and continue its goal of delivering high-quality solutions to its customer base.
According to the technology provider, its pharmacy automation tools will bring the pharmaceutical wholesaler additional controls and inventory tracking within the pharmacy as well as create a foundation for improving patient safety through bar code administration at the patient's bedside.
Deployment of Talyst's technology will benefit pharmacies and facilities across all of H. D. Smith's national distribution, according to the companies.
"This partnership will help pharmacies enhance their end-to-end supply chain from the wholesaler to the patient's bedside," Jeff Greer, vice president national accounts at H.D. Smith. "Partnering with Talyst will allow our customers to enhance patient safety and workflow efficiency."
Springfield, Ill.-based H. D. Smith, the largest privately held national, full-line pharmacy wholesaler, provides a complete line of pharmaceuticals, over-the-counter health products, health and beauty aids, home health care products, durable medical equipment and seasonal merchandise, along with an array of marketing programs, to retail pharmacies, regional chains and health systems.
"The H. D. Smith and Talyst partnership will enable pharmacists to achieve a higher level of performance that encourages constant improvement," commented Carla Corkern, Talyst chairman and chief executive officer. "Talyst's automated dispensing products help pharmacies prepare for the pending changes in health care reform — doing less with more."
