London Drugs offers fashionable compact for condoms
April 15th, 2011
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, and LOS ANGELES – London Drugs is carrying a fashion-centric compact from Just In Case Inc. that the companies said bridges beauty and sexual heath.
The Canadian drug store chain and supplier said Thursday that the unique compact looks like a mirrored makeup compact and has a hidden compartment to hold condoms.
With the move, London Drugs and Cana International Distributing Inc., the exclusive distributor for Just In Case products in Canada, are taking the message of safe sex to women in Canada, the companies said.
The founders of Just in Case — a mother-daughter team from California, Marsha Bartenetti and Rachael Sudul — created their product to provide a "missing link" between "what we know and what we do" in terms of safe sex, according to the company.
"It doesn't matter how many free condoms are dispersed. If a woman thinks she'll be judged or embarrassed, she won't carry them. Don't underestimate the power of embarrassment over an otherwise smart choice," explained Sudul.
Just in Case said the compacts, which are available in a broad range of styles and price points, are a perfect gift for mothers to give a daughter as she goes off to college as well as for any girlfriend, bridesmaid or recently divorced women starting to date again.
"And let's not forget the overlooked population of widows who are vulnerable to contracting STDs in their later years," commented Michelle Cioli, president of Cana International. "They begin dating again and find the world of dating has changed dramatically. We are proud to be the exclusive distribdistributor of this groundbreaking product that empowers Canadian women of all ages to make smart choices."
