June 2nd, 2011

NORWELL, Mass. – Carex Health Brands has opened its new corporate headquarters in the Boston area.

The home health care manufacturer said Wednesday that the new East Coast headquarters, in Norwell, Mass., will support the expansion of its marketing team as the company steps up its brand-building efforts and works to double new product development.

Carex Health Brands, a portfolio company of Ancor Capital Partners, also has an office in Sioux Falls, S.D.

"We strive to produce high-quality and innovative products that bring convenience, dignity and ease of use to a range of consumers," Carex president Matt McElduff said in a statement. "With the move to Boston, we are ramping up our team of driven and creative marketing professionals to elevate Carex Health Brands to an entirely new level of growth and success."

Carex noted that its efforts to boost its marketing will enable it to better serve a burgeoning market for in-home health care products as the baby boomers age. The company said the sector's sales have an estimated compound annual growth rate of 7% to 9% through 2011, and that rate is projected to pick up thereafter.

Home health care products from Carex span such categories as medication compliance, home medical equipment, bathroom safety products, daily living aids, mobility support, and pain management via reusable hot/cold products featuring Moist Heat ThermaTherapy. The supplier's brands include Carex, Apex, Bed Buddy, TheraMed, Enablers and VitaSystem.

Carex reported that its No. 1 in market share in the medical accessories and the reusable hot/cold therapy categories, based on syndicated data. The company's product are sold at national food, drug and mass-merchandise retailers in the United States and Canada as well as through pharmaceutical wholesalers and durable medical equipment dealers.
