Kao Brands plans to change its name
October 25th, 2011
CINCINNATI – As of next year, Kao Brands Co. will go under a new company name: Kao USA Inc.
The company said Tuesday that the name change to Kao USA is effective Jan. 1, 2012, and reflect a larger repositioning effort by its parent, Kao Corp., a leading manufacturer of beauty care and household products based in Tokyo.
Motoki Ozaki, Kao's president and chief executive officer, announced that beginning in January, Kao's beauty care subsidiaries in North America and Europe will operate as unified organizations in the major nations where they operate. He explained that the global management approach will give Kao more leverage in key markets and enable the company to better leverage its combined experience and resources to spur the growth of the Kao group in the United States and worldwide.
"The alignment with Kao's beauty care business will provide us with an opportunity to better harness Kao's global scale and resources for the benefit of consumers and customers in the North American and European markets," Bill Gentner, president and CEO of Kao Brands, said in a statement. "It will also provide more career opportunities for people both locally and internationally."
Kao Brands' product portfolio includes Ban antiperspirants; Jergens and Curel hand and body lotions; Biore facial care; and John Frieda, Frizz-Ease, Root Awakening, Luxurious Volume, Sheer Blonde, Brilliant Brunette, Radiant Red, Full Repair, Precision Foam Colour and Luminous Color Glaze professional hair care.
