Hallmark adds interactive holiday cards
December 12th, 2011
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Hallmark has unveiled four new interactive Christmas greeting card lines for the 2011 holiday season.
The greeting card giant said Monday that the novel card collections leverage technology to make holiday wishes "come alive."
According to Hallmark, the Vertical Spin with Sound cards feature a festive holiday character that spins to the music when opened. Spinning characters include a reindeer, a snowflake and even Santa. Three card designs are available for $6.99 each.
The Fiber Optics with Sound cards have a new light feature that's activated with the push of a button and lights dancing to the timing of favorite holiday tunes, including classic holiday songs such as "Feliz Navidad," "Jingle Bells" and "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree." The line comes in five card designs at $7.99 each.
Meanwhile, the new Alternative Activation and Sound with Motion cards move and play music when activated. Actions include moving a record player needle onto the record to make the card jump to life, or pulling a string to make the bell ring and move. The collection has four card designs, available at $6.99 each.
And the Push Button Motion with Sound cards activate the motion of a humorous character at the push of a button, with recipients able to hear three "witty holiday insights" from a Christmas tree or even a holiday fruit cake, according to Hallmark. Four card designs are available for $6.99 each.
"This Christmas, we are using technology to capture the sights and sounds of the season in an unforgettable way," stated Dian Cawood, Hallmark's editorial director. "Four new techno-card groups make Christmas come alive with cards that jiggle, spin, light up and play popular Christmas tunes. These cards are fun for people of all ages and can be experienced and shared over and over again."
The new interactive Christmas cards are available at Hallmark stores and participating Hallmark retailers nationwide.
