Catalina Marketing names former Dell exec as CIO
January 9th, 2012
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Catalina Marketing Corp. has appointed John Miles as its new executive vice president and chief information officer.
The marketing specialist said Monday that in the CIO role, Miles will be responsible for leading IT strategy, research and development, and new product development. He joins Catalina from computer giant Dell, where he served as a senior member of the leadership team and CIO for its global commercial and consumer businesses since 2009.
Miles replaces 19-year Catalina veteran Eric Williams, who the company said played a key role in its development as a global leader in consumer brand, health and retail marketing.
"John is an exceptional leader and innovator who joins Catalina at an exciting time in our company's evolution and growth," stated Jamie Egasti, chief executive officer of Catalina. "His experience in driving technology-enabled breakthroughs will help Catalina stay at the forefront of consumer loyalty innovation."
Miles brings to Catalina extensive management experience with leading global businesses and consulting organizations. At Dell, he helped drive change initiatives in sales operations, mergers and acquisitions, marketing, customer relationship management, social media, finance, dell.com, channel and customer support. He has also held senior executive and technology positions at Lowe's and Lend Lease Inc., as well as consulting posts at Arthur Andersen and Booz Allen Hamilton.
Catalina added that Williams, among his many accomplishments, led the design and implementation of the company's shopper data warehouse, one of the world's largest transaction-level databases.
"Eric is a recognized and respected expert in the IT field who has served as an important change agent, not only for Catalina but for the information management industry," noted Egasti. "Under his leadership, Catalina was recently named among the top five companies within the InformationWeek 500. We extend our sincere thanks to Eric for all that he has given our organization and the technology sector."
